It took a long breath and replied…..“I’ve been waiting my whole life for this”

“Nayyirah Waheed”

This specially crafted yoga class is inviting you to drop into an inclusive, body positive, judgement-free space space where you are encouraged to begin be-friending your wondrous body as it is, embrace your curves and move into FEEL over LOOK

The intention is for you to just feel friggin GOOD if not GREAT in your curvylisciousness!

. Through the tools of yoga we will explore edging towards trust and peace in your body with the signature ‘adaptive yogi’ flavour - gentle - do-able - accessible and adaptable to ALL bodies

“If you can breathe, you can do yoga” - True story!

Through conditioning and constant bombardment of societal messages, we have lost the ability to deeply trust our bodies and it’s messages as truth. we consciously AND subconsciously receive messages along the lines of…..“you are not right, you are not enough, you need to be fixed - here…buy this. do this, do that and you will be”. I’m passionate about stopping that train of destructiveness, waving the white flag to begin the infinitely more relaxing journey towards body peace. Not only do I live in a curvy body, but I have taken specific Yoga for ALL Teacher Training to learn more about adapting poses for everyBODY.

Over the 90 minutes each week, we will explore:

* Asana: accessible yoga poses/movements/flows

* Pranayama: breathing techniques for optimal health & well-being

* Meditation: to observe & tap into the power of the mind

* Deep Relaxation: allowing powerful healing on a deep level

* Sangha: community & connection with like-minded and bodied souls.

The ‘Taj’ venue is Jen’s boutique yoga place - her converted double garage is a calming and tranquil space - fits @ 8 - 10, so it’s intimate and allows time & space for individual attention. With a separate wheelchair accessible entrance to ensure ease & privacy, this peaceful and a little bit pink yoga space is divine! Plenty of parking on the street

“Meditation is a means to realize the beauty of your existence”

Sadhguru

This specially crafted yoga session is focussed on pranayama (breathing) and meditation – a place to learn and practise these skills by an experienced instructor and the magic of group energy.

“If you can breathe, you can do yoga” - Yes!  I’ll guide you to see how do-able – easy and accessible these profoundly life changing yoga practises are

We will start with some very gentle restorative breath led poses and flows, but most of the session will be learning and practising Pranayama and Meditation including on alternate weeks, the delicious and powerful  practise of a guided Yoga Nidra.

One of my deepest passions as a yoga guide is slow, restorative, meditative yoga – it’s a revolution!  We don’t have to strive as much as we think we do – ‘just be’ is such a relaxing statement. My yoga teacher training has specialised in Yoga Nidra including training and mentorship from very knowledgeable and experienced Yoga Swami’s.  I just LOVE delivering this ancient and powerful practise

Each week we will alternate between meditation and breath work and a guided Yoga Nidra, so you get a real felt experience of these deeply powerful healing practises. All highly accessible practices with plenty of props (chairs, stools, walls, cushions, blankets etc) if you can’t sit in lotus or even crossed legs for longer periods (not many can – lotus and me are not friends!)

Over the 60 minutes each week, we will explore:

* Asana: @15mins of accessible, restorative poses/movements/flows

* Pranayama: breathing techniques for optimal health & well-being

* Meditation: to observe & tap into the power of the mind

* Yoga Nidra: guided relaxation allowing powerful healing on a deep level

* Sangha: community & connection with like-minded and bodied souls.

“Mind-body integration is more than a personal health strategy. It is a movement of consciousness that can change the world.”

-Matthew Sandford

This specially crafted yoga session is for wheelies to practise the ancient and healing yoga techniques to move towards mind-body integration.

The session will start with adaptive breath led yoga poses and flows, that focus on the energy of the entire body, moving through into breathing and meditation practices that calm the nervous system and relax the mind.

I am not in a wheelchair. I was born with a disability in my ankle and have experienced surgeries, challenges, pain and immobility all my life. Four years ago I was so lucky to find a the life changing Prosthesis Exosym device that now enables me to walk pain free - I was heading for a wheelchair. I have a deep gratitude for being able to walk and be mobile. Through this journey I have learnt to adapt yoga, the benefits of the practise have been beyond what words can explain. I am passionate about guiding others to the same and having them believe my very true philosophy that yoga is for everyBODY.

I am very involved with the Adaptive Accessible Yoga Community in the USA and have taken specialized training online, but have a dream to go there in person and train with Matthew Sandford…..a bit about him…....

Matthew Sanford once led an ordinary life in a loving family. But at the age of 13, a devastating car crash took the lives of his father and sister and left him paralyzed from the chest down. Advice from his doctors to “forget his lower body,” however, was what really crippled Sanford, leading him to ignore his once-athletic body, until at age 25 he discovered yoga and the healing power of the mind-body connection

Click here to learn more about Matthew and his inspiring story - much of my teaching is influenced by his philosophies along with my Satyananda Hatha Teacher training.

Over the 60 minutes each week, we will explore:

* Asana: accessible poses/movements/flows

* Pranayama: breathing techniques for optimal health, well-being & to calm the nervous system

* Meditation: to observe & tap into the power of the mind

* Sangha: community & connection with like-minded and bodied souls.

The ‘Taj’ venue is Jen’s boutique yoga place - her converted double garage is a calming and tranquil space - fits @ 6 wheelchairs, so it’s intimate and allows time & space for individual attention. With a separate wheelchair accessible entrance to ensure ease & privacy, this peaceful and a little bit pink yoga space is divine!

Accessibility points - Plenty of parking on the street but there is a slight slope. Bathroom is accessible for experienced users but is a tight space, contact me to discuss these points - otherwise it’s an easy flat entrance.

Address: 134 Verran Rd, Birkenhead, Auckland

This is run as a class series for 10 weeks at $120 but also, absolutely fine to drop in on a casual basis for $15 per session - please still complete the form even if you are dropping in - thank-you :)
